The PRP method of hair restoration uses the patient’s own blood, spun down in a centrifuge, to create a platelet rich plasma (PRP). The PRP solution is then injected into areas of the scalp where hair has become noticeably thinner. This is a non surgical treatment option for patients who have thinning hair or mild hair loss.
Most patients will receive a series of three PRP injections, with treatments being spaced about a month apart. Treatments are for the most part comfortable, with no downtime and minimal to no side effects. The injection process itself may cause mild bruising and redness, lasting no more than a couple days.
Typically, patients will experience a 19.7% increase in hair density in the treated area(s) during the initial 3 months. After treatments are completed, patients can expect to see a continued increase in the density of the hair in treated areas- about 38% on average. The PRP injections stimulate healthy cell regrowth that will support lasting regrowth beyond the first year.
